I have using a 49 snowblower on a 1987 316, and just bought a 1990 318. The chute control bracket that mounts on the pedestal does not fit on the 318 like it did on the 316. The vented area on the pedestal of the 318 is removable sticks out about a 1/4 inch causing bracket to not line up with the bolt holes. Is there a different bracket for this application?

Mike, what happens when you want to use the brake?

Jim,
As soon as I got to work I knew that question would be asked. I haven't used the brake on my 318 or my 314 since I've had either one. One hand on the steering knob and the other on the hydro is all I've ever done. The hydro is my forward and reverse and I guess I've never had a situation where I needed to use the brakes. My driveway is slightly pitched but not so bad where I've ever been in need so that's my answer. I knew it, I knew it...just myself trying to help.

Mike, I only ask because I use those brakes to turn when the thrower is down. I know others do to, and Ill admit I never did use them for years because the only drive I ever did was straight with no obstacles. Just wondered...

Thanks to those who have responded. Looks like there are 2 brackets, I think I need the one for SN 485762 and above (that sn is part way into the 1988 model year according to the registry, mine is a 1990 with a sn starting 014. Seems to go against the documentation, but sn's went down to starting with 01 in 1990.) The primary difference appears to be the kit comes with spacers for the top 2 bolts to hold it away from the tractor. Here is a link to instructions about the kit, http://www.wfmachines.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=101205

The pictures below show the removable vent on my 318 and the bracket I have from my 1987 316. You can see it hits the vent instead of resting against the pedestal. The bracket fit my 316 just like the picture posted by JDF previously.

I would like to see a picture of the correct bracket mounted on a tractor with a removable vent if someone could post it.
