I have been rebuilding my 67 110 with a k181 motor. I see on hapco site that there is a o ring along with the flat rubber gasket in their rebuild kit. My tractor only has a flat rubber gasket and no o ring. Should I add the o ring or is this just variation. I have not run any gas in the system since reprinting and don't want gas spilled on the new paint. Thanks Matt

Matt, I have rebuilt two Carter's off k181 and both kits had both the flat skirt type gasket and the o-ring.

The old Carter/Kohler carb. base has a square groove. The square "o ring" goes in first, then the flat "baffle" gasket, then the bowl.
I could be wrong about this, but have always thought the flat gasket mostly acts as a baffle to limit the amount of splashing, vibrating gas in the bowl from exiting through the vent hole.
After cleaning the bowl, hold it up to a light source to make sure there are no pin holes from corrosion, especially if there are black spots in the bottom of the bowl.
