Putting my K301 engine back together and have a couple of questions. I know the motor is green on the 68, but what about the head? Leave silver or paint ? Mine is currently silver. What about the engine lift eye? I cut, drilled and contoured one out of 1" angle iron. Should it color match the head?

If I remember correctly the head stays aluminum, and the tins and lift "eye are green.
Mat I ask why you have an 8hp enigine in a 140? They were originally a 14hp.

The 68 140 came with the 12 hp K301 stock. 1969 they went to the 14 hp K321.

Not sure why I thought the K301 was an 8hp. HHHHHMMMMMM I thought they all the 140's came with a K321. Sorry for the misinformation. You learn something new every day.

Hey, not a problem! I am new to the 140 and the 68 is sort of an anamoly. I need all the help I can get. WFM members have been very helpful and I have learned a lot just searching the site. Thanks all!
