What's the depth of the unit from the bottom of the cap to the bottom of the sending unit?Can someone please tell me where I can buy a NEW gas cap with a gauge (JD PN#31189) for my 1972 JD 140? Thanks, Ron
Hi I see a lot on-line that are 9" long and 2" diameter of the cap. This wont work. The john deere parts catalog says it would have to be ordered for about $39.00, but after reading earlier comments, that's if the main parts depot has them. I know my dealer does not.ATrevizo;
The cap that came with the tractor is just a plain cheap cap from something else, i.e. no gauge, hence no sending unit. The tank is a stock 140 tank so the opening is 1.5" in Dia. and the inside of the tank from top to bottom is 6".
I always thought that one of JD's strong points was parts availability, even for older models. Now I'm beginning to question that if I still can't buy a lossy gas cap for a garden tractor that they made thousands of.![]()
Sears what?Sears uses the same cap type
I don't know. How deep is a RF tank? My 140 tank is is 6".Is the tank deeper than a RF tank?
there is no such thing as a NLA part.!there is alwaWS A PART THAN CAN FITSeems like, unless you just happen to find a decent one used. Keep the part number for reference and check the auction site occasionally. I do that whenever I'm dealing with an NLA/obsoleted part.
