My SN is 53,xxx and I just missed the factory installed oil drain valve by a couple of thousand models.

I would like to buy an aftermarket valve with a nipple to put a clear line on and drain it neatly.

Specs say it is a 3/8" thread on my plug and the latest models with the valves are 3/8" threads as well.

Can I just buy a brass 3/8" thread oil valve like from Fumoto or from an auto parts store?

Who has done this and what can you share?

It would be nice to find something in stock locally so I can take it back if necessary.

No one has added a quick shut-off valve to their 140 to drain the oil easier?

With all the tinkering we do, this seams like a quick and easy upgrade but I don't want to start blindly ordering valves if someone has some guidance.

Alan, It will definitely fit. My 300 has one. The 140 will, eventually. The only problem you may have will be the physical installing. The engine had to come out of the 300, installed it tight and made sure it was lined up with the space available. The just isn't clearance under there. That's why my 140 just got the cheap plug this time.
