All American Sharpener mower blade sharpener, does anyone have one??

I have always used my angle grinder to sharpen my blades, but it is difficult to get the angle correct. I have been looking at the All American Shapener model 5005. I think looks like a great concept and appears it would work very well. Does anyone have one, or have used one? I would love some feedback.
I'm looking at the model 5005 as it has the most adjustment for different styles of blades.

I have also seen the Chinese knock offs of this design on amazon. They are way cheaper, but it really annoys me the way they outright steal and copy designs that others put so much work into developing. A lot of them even use pictures and the instructions straight from All American Sharpener. I just can't bring my self to support that.

Let me know what you guys think.

I purchased the All American Sharpener 5005 a couple of years ago. I purchased it for the same reasons you’re looking into one. I am very pleased with it and am glad I made the decision. I recommend viewing their operating videos before first use. I use it for both John Deere 54 blades and Exmark blades. I mow 3.5 Acres, sharpening blades is now a breeze. I have found their customer support to be excellent. No, I do not work for them, just happy with the product.

I sharpen a lot of blades, I’ve looked at them but haven’t pulled the trigger. And I do like to have all the tools!!!
I have this same model and love it. It works best if mounted to a bench, will work in a vise as well. It just needs to be tight.
I use a 4" grinder with a 30 grit flap wheel and it takes very little time to sharpen a blade.

Freehand grinder. Its not a carving chisel or sushi knife.

I've always used a 12" mill file. You can do a lot damage in a hurry with a 'free hand' grinder

I've never used the All American Sharpener 5005 but instead made a jig to hold a cheap angle grinder with a 60 grit flap disc. That works pretty good and consistent when you have one mower and 3 blades to deal with. Eventually when I acquired a handful of JD lawn tractors with mower decks, I wanted something even better and over time I found the RBG 712 is the way to go if you are a serious lawn care nut or just have lots of mower blades to sharpen. I have a number of JD Mower decks but primarily now run a hustler zero turn with X-blade setups. I have also done that with my JD 455 and works sweet with 6 blades instead of 3. So I turned to that bigger RBG 712 machine since I mow up to 4 acres every couple days. The RBG 712 would be overkill for a guy with one mower but is a nice setup too if you wanted to make some side coin sharpening and balancing blades. Any means of sharpening is good as long as you can maintain the angle and balance them. Checking them after every 10 acres and keeping clean helps.
Now, unlike commercial lawn care guys that will tell you to go only sharp as a butter knife... no I like sharp like a slicing knife simply because I know my lawn and I don't chew up strange debris in the yard including rocks that will dull a very sharp blade faster. The way I see it, the sharper it is, the cleaner the cut and healthier the grass is plus your mower isn't working so hard and in most cases you can go a bit faster and still get a clean cut. I'll attach a few pics for show and tell on the sharpener jig I made originally and keep on hand along with the sharpening station I setup using a Rockler metal frame with some added casters, plywood and working on a drawer also.

I like the design of the All American Sharpener, but not the price. I like the idea of moving the grinder rather then the mower blade. I know the China copy is much cheaper BUT.....(n).! So as soon as I get the parts to put together my Case Transaxle (which could be awhile) I'm planning on making a knock off of the AAS unit. Stay tuned. (y)
