The hydraulic system requires specific fluid, I follow Deere's recommendations. I use John Deere Low Viscosity Hy-Gard, Part# TY22000 in gallon containers. I have it in five gallon pails but can't access the part number at present.

I service quite a few vehicles and need the convenience of bulk lube products. I use an All Purpose HD Fleet Oil, 15W-40 for all my vehicles. I purchase it in 55 gallon drums from my local NAPA store, it's Valvoline Supreme HD in NAPA's wrap. I researched the specs and it shows up as meeting/exceeding a bunch of mfgr's requirements, including Deere, Case/IH, Cat, Cummins, Ford, GM, Benz, etc.

When in doubt, do what Roger says, follow Deere's advice, it's not worth a big problem and you will always know you're using the correct product for your tractor. Cost is not the object.

My question was more towards the engine oil.

I have WIX filters for the engine and transmission.
2 gallons of Hy Gaurd TY220000
I am planning on using rotella 15-40w for the engine.

Any other tricks on changing this oil?
Is the drain plug easy to get to?

I'm like Roger here, I go to Deere--Yes--And bad as I hate to sometimes anymore & Get the Oil and Fluids they recommend. That way you know its right stuff and they can't come back on you for using wrong stuff. Here where I live--each year they have a *Deere Days* and parts and all are 10% off--I'll go then and get my oil and parts needed to service my Deere. I hope this New bunch thats bought them out will keep having this Deere Day,But way it looks ---I'll be surprised if they do. Anyway---Right stuff is best way to go--If you love your old deere--Its worth it!

My 425 only has one issue with changing the engine oil....where the drain tube comes down! No matter the routing, it ends up hitting something, it runs, drips and makes somewhat of a mess. Typical of most of my equipment.

Gaining access to the drain fitting is not too bad. Raise it up, big drain pan, no problem!
