I was contemplating getting a set of Titan Ultra Trac 6 play 24 x 13 x 12 tires on my 317. I know they are 1" taller and 2.5" wider, but after checking there looks to by more than enough clearance. I know the greater diameter will reduce torque by 4.1%. Below is a link to the picture, it's a European dealer, yet I plan on buying them in the US. Let me know what you guys think.

I can run 26x12x12 turf tires on a 300 with the mower deck on.
You might have clearance issues with the mower deck if you run the 13" wide tires. There are many variations of wheel width/tire size combinations, so just be aware of this if you are planning on using a mower deck with oversize tires..

Mike,

Tire clearance to the fender deck is not going to be an issue with most 26 inch tires, but be aware that the mounded diameter of tires vary from manufacturer to manufacturer (or style to style, for that matter) for the same "nominal" size. Many vendors list the mounted diameter, tire width and recommended rim width for their tires, Carlisle certainly does...

I agree with Doug that the 26 inch tires might be a bit tight for clearance for some mowing decks on a 317. Here is a picture of a 317 I once had with the 26x12.00-12 rears and some 18x8.50-10 fronts to level it up. This setup will just clear a 46 inch deck and the front tires will likely rub the deck at full steering lock. If you have a 41 inch deck as I did the rear tires will hit the anti-scalp wheels when the deck is lifted. With the 46 inch deck its anti scalp wheels fall just outside the rear tires in the narrow position. With either deck, you cannot use the wide setting of the rear tires...

With the 24 inch tall tires that are 13 inches wide, only the deck anti-scalp clearance issues would be of concern, not the encroachment in the fore and aft direction...

What size rims are you running?8 1/2 or 9 1/2?
That is the stance I had in mind when I mounted Carlisle all trails on my 322.
I ran 24x12-12 and put them on 9 1/2 wide rims but my shoulder is more rounded and the tread is not as wide.
May be my tire choice.

AJ, Mine are the standard 8 1/2". This Carlisle Turfmaster 24 - 12 x 12 has a bowed sidewall and calls for a 8 1/2" rim. It allows the tread surface to lay very flat across the entire width. This tire is used on several commercial zero turn mowers. The price from Brutt Specialty Tires was hard to beat and their service was great.

Roger and AJ,

I have used the Carlisle turf tires on both my Gator and on a Toro Workman 3200. The 12 inch rim size on the Workman allows for a flatter tread surface than the 9 inch rim and taller sidewall of the more 'floatation' like tires (10 PSI typical...) on the Gator. Even the taller 26 inch turf tires now on one of my 322 tractors have a flatter tread than the Gator tires. Perhaps the All Trails are a more ATV targeted tire and therefore have the more rounded shoulders...

Here are some pictures for comparison...

I have a pair of 24x12-12 Turf Masters mounted on 10.5" wide wheels on my 345. I also have a pair of 26x12-12 mounted on 10.5" wheels. Both sets of tires will fit on my 322 with a 46 deck. The 10.5" wide wheel allows the tread surface to lay nice and flat on the ground.
