Been a long time since had a "project" son bought a 316 @ auction today. No nothing about it! No battery. Seems to be complete minus like the front headlight plastic and unfortunately the hood is in good shape but now noticed one of the front supports has broken away. Going to do the normal things and see if there's any life in the onan.

Looks like 1992 to me
YUP it is a 1992 year model. Do you need any documents specific to it?? Watch your PM/Conversation page.

I have a suspicion that you will get lucky and make her run, just a hunch. Did you get a steal of a deal on it? Tom
If it's worth 300 I'm not bleeding!? I like the hobby too!

Thank you Chuck.
So new fuel fuel filter battery battery cable blew out air filter crank and she runs!

Still few things to be sorted including why the brake is so hard to depress and won't return
Runs pretty nice so far. Went on a couple little drives today. Not sure if starter is hitting just like it should. Did a little more cleaning might put some paint on side shields since they're off. Guessing I'll get around to pulling belly screen and fender pan too she's prolly grimy in there. Matt

You can't claim an Earl Scheib paint job without showing us the painted tail lights...

I didn't zoom in to much for a reason! That being said when say someone else half asses it and you can see the line of where they sanded the flaking off and left the solid stuff could they sand or grind with a flapper disc or something and repaint that area? As to not see the scab line! Thanks.
Might want to check those bolts on the starter. Should be able to pull the tin down to get at them without hurting the tin or pulling the motor. While your there check for any starter movement by observing while cranking.

Thanks. I'd like to get to that starter without pulling engine. Could it need any lubrication? Like spray or grease? Can u assess anything from bottom or if fender pan is off?
It’s possible it just needs lube. If it sat for a long time entirely possible. There is a cutout on the bottom the frame for part of the starter but the only thing serviceable is the starter and solenoid electrical lugs from the front. I have changed p series starters without entirely pulling engine. Just 4 motor mounts and whatever it takes to lift up a couple inches on that side. I like to look at the ring gear from the air cleaner breather tube on top and see if there’s crazy bad wear or unusual wear on the teeth. Unfortunately sometimes the stater mount can crack and not be apparently broken. That will allow a wierd sideways flex when starters engaged. I like to actually look at it while cranking.
Sounds good. Just some kind of spray lube try first?
Never seen the extra metal strips under seat? Someone's fix?

Definitely someone's fix. The fenderdecks can easily crack by the front spring bolt holes. I would be concerned about gas tank clearance with those bolts sticking down.

So just glancing when I took the Pan off the tail light wiring is under there on 316 just not ran to back as it wasn't an option on 316. But also they didn't even use taillight with cut out for bulb to go in? It's just solid. No socket.
