Pulled the motor out of my 1974 140 H3. Realized it's not the real seal and it's the oil pan gasket. Couple things. 1. What's the best way to get that pan off and change gasket. 2 where do you lift the motor with the engine hoist. My 69-70 have a lift bar but my 74 does have one and if there should be. Does someone have a picture of where it's located at on the head. Thanks.

There is one stud that holds the top sheetmetal on. Make a hook for that. Check in my thread for a pict.

Guess I couldn't find your threads. There's a lot of threads out there and don't know to just look yours up. Just need to find a good what to lift that motor . The heads are different then the older 140's heads.

I quit using gaskets on the oil pans long ago.
The vibration of the engine causes failures.
There are many products that form much better seals.
Black RTV happens to be what I have been using.
The motors aren’t that heavy but I’m a fairly large man.
Mike, I to would like to see the hook that you fabricated.
I did a search and you have 696 threads just in the restoration section.
