I just picked up a lot of John Deere stuff in an auction. There is a smaller snow/push blade included. I'm hoping it is for a John Deere 70 as I own one. The number on the blade tag is U038H 400382 M. Can anyone tell me what this blade is for?

Mitchell, you are saying that the blade you show mounted on your JD 70 has the U038H tag on it? Can you post a couple pictures with one showing the back of the blade and the other showing how it mounts up to the tractor? If this blade does fit the JD 70 lawn tractor that would be great! I own a JD 70 lawn tractor I would just have to find whatever parts I need to mount it to the tractor.

I had a patio colored blade for my 70 too. Traded it for a nicer yellow one.

Doesn't take much to adapt one model of the newer-style blades to fit. I had to cut one of the mounting arms & weld a tab on the side of it to make it the right width:

I had to modify the lift arm because of the Briggs engine in my 70 I:

Could someone measure the lift arm (circled) on your blade, starting at the top of the mount up to the first bend, then to the second bend & to the lift rod pin?

I bought a similar blade today, but will probably have to move the arm on the mount! ~~ Lowell

Lowell these are some pictures of a 40 blades mount points. Hopefully you can see the ruler measurements. I think your blade is from the next series 108s to 116s. I see you are looking for skids. I believe they are the same as skids used on the series beyond the 40 blade. Where used in JD Parts may help you with more options. Roger
