I ordered Carlisle Super Lug 23X10.5X12 rear tires for my 318 this morning, from a local dealer. R & R weights and install tires plus the tires was $185.90. Not a bad price. Now, I know from reading some threads that the tires will clear the 46" deck with no problem, but does anyone have any actual thoughts gathered from using them, that may be of use to me? I'm going to use them mainly for mowing and the FEL. Some towing of a grader at times. I did not want to go back to turf tires again.

I just picked up a pair of Tru power but haven't used them, I have other brand ag tires I use for mowing and have had good luck with them don't seem to tear up the lawn and grip pretty good..

Also I heard that Carlisle is discontinuing some of the lawn and garden tires,

I have Tru Powers on my 300 that I use for mowing. Also run wheel weights all the time. I don't have any troubles with them. Works well on the steep ditches I mow, I can even back up them now. Just keep in mind that if you do push it and spin, you will tear up the lawn. I had to re-learn how to use the hydro a bit after I installed mine. Such as slowing down before putting the Hydro in neutral. If you don't, the tires will slide or if they grip you get real friendly with the steering wheel in a hurry. Also have to take it a bit easier with the forward to reverse transitions for the same reasons. Overall though I didn't think it was a big deal.

I have a pair of Carlisle Super Lug 23x10.5x12 on my gear drive 110 - LOVE THEM. It's like a mini-bulldozer with the front blade and wheel weights. Next I want a pair for my 318 as well. From various posts I've read here, it seems that 26" tires would be great, but might not clear my 50" mower deck, 23x10.5x12 would work, and maybe I should consider the true power instead of super lug for a closer lug spacing if I'm going to run this one more on the turf.
Sound about right?

What did you do for front tires? What size/model do most people use for the front for ribbed vs turf if you going to order from someone like Miller Tire?

I run 23X10.50X12 Super lugs on my 318, they ride a little rough but work great tilling and dirt work.

I contemplated putting these on my 430 but went with 26x12x12 Tru powers as the rims I wanted to use were only 8.5" vs the stock 10.5", eventually I would like the super lugs on the stock rim as the starter weights would sit inside the rim better than the 8.5" rim.

Either way I don't think either one is better than the other. They both work great in dirt and the lawn but in mud neither one is worth a hoot.
The differential lock on the 430 help tremendously in that department though.

Ags on the lawn, well if you want to tear it up you can, but you really need to re-learn how you operate and they won't tear it up. I have one spot I have no choice but to lock one brake and spin around so it is pretty bald in that spot.

Thanks guys. The tire place I bought them from is actually a trailer sales (utility trailers) and they can order most anything, but the True Powers from their distributor, he somehow only had one left, but had two of the Super Lugs in stock, so I went with them.
Grass? What's that? I have about two acres of clover with a smattering of something green around the edges. Fortunately I don't have to make any sharp turns, but when I pull the grader for my 1000' crushed stone drive, the turfs do spin at times when the teeth on the grader really dig into the hard packed areas. Besides, I wanted to change out the original tires so I could put the weight box on for the FEL. Those old tires are cracked on the sidewalls and not much tread left on them. It's time. If I don't like the aggressive SL's, I'll get two less aggressive tires later.
Romeo, I've never had to use the individual brakes in the last five years. The PO, had 4 acres of grass in upper NY that he mowed with this tractor, and he never did either.

Many sizes of the Super Lug tires no longer appear in the current (2009) Carlisle catalog, and there is a post in the Vintage thread that indicates that the entire SL lineup will be discontinued. I guess I'll have to quickly get those ribbed 16-8.50 x 8 tires for the 80 cart right away instead of when I think I can afford them...just in case they disappear also.

I have a 345 that has been overhauled late last year. This year started it up and it ran fine when it started to warm up it started surging at any throttle position above idle.

I am thinking something is stuck in the carb high idle needle? What do you guys think?

On another note:

If I have to break apart the carb should I grind/file out the tabs people talk about cause it to surge at low idle?
