I am looking at tire options, without having to float a loan, for my 420. Regular bar tires are getting quite expensive for 26 12 12 size. M.E. Miller tire has a nice crossbreed tire I have not seen before, its a mix of bar tire and turf tire called the Versa Turf. Anybody tried these for mowing and plow day use? Might be a good mix of the two tire designs that works for both applications. Firestone 23' Ags are up to $260 per tire now.

I put them on my 420 2 seasons ago and they are so much better than the old dry rotted and hard rubber turfs they replaced. They walk right through a wet, sometimes muddy lawn in the spring. They ride as smooth as the turfs when the ground is dry and hard. They definitely will dig a hole if hooked to something the 420 won't budge! They "clean" themselves well also.
I suspect the bar tires would perform a bit better in loose dirt, such as disking plowed ground, or on the tractor pulling track, but I only have a mowing deck for this one. I do think they would pull a moldboard plow just fine.
I use the 317 for garden work with old, loaded bar tires. I would likely replace them with Versa-Turfs when the time comes though. My gardening days are nearly over.

They look good on the 420! I would be interested to see how they actually perform pulling a Brinly Cat 0 plow in the field at plow days. I run a rear 3pt mounted finish mower on my 420, the original turfs are in nice shape but not what i want. But I keep cringing at $260 a tire for Firestone ags or nearly that for the other brands. I wont run Deestone as the last couple pairs started to dry rot crack bad within a year or less.

I've eyed these for a while as well. If they are better than HDAP in grass, wet leaves, a bit of mud, and snow, I'd buy got myself.

I am sure they would be in the grass and leaves with the "bar" style tread over the HDAP, but its how they perform in the furrow that is my main concern. I really am curious if they have come up with a tire that performs well for both plow days and dealing with yard duties.

Doa a sesrch for Versa Turf here, lots of threads on those.

Ive had them for 2 years, filled them last year. My land is sloped so you cant even drive a tractor on regular turf tires. The tires will and do load up with mud.
I did plow a small garden, just to turn over the grass that was there. If I needed to do alot of garden work Id buy a thinner set of rims and run ags.
