I’m changing my transaxle fluid in my 322.
I’m about 6 quarts in and I don’t see anything in the sight but I have fluid pouring out of this fitting. This fitting wasn’t leaking before, what the heck happened? And how did that happen?

You likely have fluid in the sight glass but can't see a bubble interface because it is OVER filled. That fitting has a small intentional hole in the elbow that is there to vent the system. You need to drain out some of the fluid. Even though the manual says 6 liters (13 pints), if you drained the transmission of old fluid there will be enough coating the internals that anything over about 5 quarts may overfill it. Don't forget the filter holds some fluid as well which is part of that manual specification of 13 pints -- did you drain and change it??

Chuckv to save the day! Thanks for replying Chuck! I’ll drain it. I replaced the filter as well. And it’s time to look into the red dye I have seen mentioned in other threads.

Clean the sight tube and dab a little white paint on the back side of it. It makes seeing the fluid level much better even without dye.

Something I do is to measure what comes out and put that amount back in and then adjust upward from there if needed....Robert

As Chuck posted, that piece is supposed to have a vent hole and fluid/oil can and will leak from that point if the system is overfilled = normal.
Refilling the transmission after a change does take time - way it is. If you choose to add a dye (only takes a few drops), do so during filling.

I just filled one till it came pouring out the vent, it was high on the sight tube but by the time I ran it, cycled the hydro levers it went right to the middle of the sight tube.
