Fella', I am being told there is 25amp circuit breaker between the battery and the ignition switch on my 84 316. Can anyone here verify that ? I am at work, tractor is at home ! I am having a non start issue I am dealing with. Thanks !

The 25 amp breaker shows in this diagram excerpt and is labeled F3:


Here is the component locator drawing -- the breaker in on the pedestal interior as shown right above the solenoid. The solenoid is item 23 and the breaker is item 22...

Thanks Chuck, I found it. But why is it I can jumper the ignition switch, and I can turn over the engine ? New ing. switch will not do anything. What the hell I am I missing ? Fuses are all good. ???

Help me understand what you mean by "jumper the ignition switch" and crank the engine -- do you mean that you jump terminals "B" to "S1" on the key switch as shown in the diagram above? OR, do you mean that you jumped the solenoid?

If you can crank the engine but it still does not fire -- very likely the safety switches are not in their correct states (seat switch not working as it should, PTO switches not in the OFF position, or some wiring error...etc.)

Did this just start to happen and the tractor used to start and run as it should, or is this a tractor you have never had running? Tell us more about what you know...
