I have an early 318. I have been looking for a Cab. I found a Cozy Cab that was on a 317. Will this fit on my 318?
I have also found a couple advertised as JD steel cab with soft doors.
Which is the better Cab? Any thing in particular I should be careful of in buying a cab?

Cozy cab is by far a better cab but I had the same thought as you did. I had a cozy cab off a late 140 and I was going to put it on my 317 but then I needed cash and I was going to sell the 317 so I sold the cab and I also had a cab off a John Deere 200 series that was on my 318 when I got that. It needed a lot of work so I sold that since It was hard to make it work on a 318. I guess if your good with a welder and with metal it will work.

Welcome Ed, and nice last name!
The John Deere cabs aren't bad at all, but a Cozy cab is nicer, I have one for my 420. The 317 cab will not fit a 318, IMO you would be better off waiting for the right cab.
Things to watch for when buying a cab are rust, broken windows replaced with plexiglass and price.

Nice looking cab, Randy. Looks just like mine except mine has one front window instead of two, and my doors open up the other way. Yours almost looks like the 200-317-400 style, but you say it came off a 318? Do you have the frame mounts?

Turns out Ed and I are relatics!! He lives in Mn but I wont hold that against him!

Hey
\clipart
Be careful now - a LOT of good people live here !
FWIW: I added a Cozy Cab to my 1988 318 for snowblowing purposes. It didn't come with mount brackets so I fabbed up some - 2 mount to the bottom of the rear axle and 1 mounts to the bottom of the frame behind the front wheels. Very solid and the cab doesn't move around at all. Cab is great for snowblowing as it helps "counterbalance" the weight of the blower and also provides weight to give better traction.
I DID add a small 12 volt fan that blows on the inside of the windshield to prevent fogging. Why are we talking about snow ?}

I just got a copy of the cozy cab manual (after I found a cab for a 110 to go on my 210 hydraulic) and the cab in the pic (usually yellow?) will fit the 200 series if they have electric or hydraulic lift. I'm doing a lot of modification to get the 110 cab to work on a 200 series, and I will still have the big hump on the left side unless I go to the trouble to remove it. I will try to post a pic in the next couple days.

Long dead thread but I finally found one locally at a reasonable price. Needs some work and came off a 330. There was a NOS in the Boston area for 550 but it sold the day I saw the advertisement. One I am picking up needs a new back window but I will put a plex in for now and then install a proper glass one down road if it has the seal. Also purchasing a snowblower but it has a small chute so that's a 46 or a 49?
