My dad has a later 420 and one of the lines that runs from the steering column to the trans pump is slightly cracked and it's the 3rd. Time he's replaced it has anyone come up with a better solution than a used line

Silver soldier. I’ve also brazed lines without removing but I wouldn’t recommend it. If any chunks fall in the line it will end up somewhere.

Some sort of compression fitting? Or learn how to patch it with a section of I'm guessing 1/4 inch brake line and flaring the ends

If it failed from stress, not rust, you might be able to have a hydraulic shop put a small section of rubber hose where it cracked. That should take care of any future problems.

Are all the hold downs in place?

Cut the cracked section out and install one of these. Might have to take 1/2" or so out to get the length of line correct.

I used compression fittings to repair a 20 loader and so far so good 👍🏻

Yes they are it's not the first time either I've replaced it shortly after he purchased it and I just don't want to buy used lines anymore I have 3 sets just for the one that's been replaced
