Whenever I go onto john deere's parts website and I look through all the blow up diagrams I always see fender mounted radios. Did anyone ever buy one of these things new or get a tractor with one included?

Thats what I thought how would you hear over the tractor but someone must have bought them. Maybe they listen to the radio when the tractors parked and they are doing other work.

Drove a 4020 with fender mounted radio and was able to hear that over engine doing tillage work. Mowing hay, bailing as well. Chopping corn was out though 2 row chopper 1st gear wide open radio had no chance on that.

I recently saw a 318 for sale online with an original radio mounted to the right fender. Pretty interesting- o doubt it would’ve been an enjoyable listening experience.

Shouldn't be too hard to 'modify' one of those with an aux amp, a subwoofer and a couple of bigger speakers on the other fender. They put radios on Harleys, and guys listen to them while riding. You can hear what they are listening to almost a mile away....

Yeah, I chuckle when I notice the Harley bump at stoplights...tail end keeping time with the blast, pilot looking all Schwarzenegger. Crank up the Bill Haley or Little Richard and roll the window down.

I did see an original radio on one tractor, TBH, it was so long ago I couldn't tell you what it was on. The seller of a 212 I bought had it, didn't believe me it was original (dealer option).

That's all you could get back in the 70s. Spent MANY hours on Dad's tractors listening to one. Ours had a headphone jack 👍
