Anyone have a suggestion for how to remove the lower bearing from the spindle? I have a small press, but there's too little room to get anything strong enough under the bearing. How do I remove the bottom piece with nothing to really hold onto on top? Thanks, Bryan.

I use a ball joint remover tools
I have several different ones that I use

I have removed the blade flange, most of them are screwed onto the shaft.
put the key back into the shaft and put that end in a vise. for the blade flange I use a large pipe wrench and screw off the blade flange.
then you should be able to get the bearing off.

Glen ... I thought about putting the key back in to be able to secure it in a vise, but 1) I didn't want to scrape/scratch anything up, and 2) I had quite a time gettin' it out in the first place. Anyone have an easy way to remove a stubborn key? I've generally wedged a small screwdriver in behind and managed to get out. This one I had to use a punch to force out ... kinda ruined the end, but I got it out. Thanks, Bryan.

Bryan, small sharp chisel will pop it out, if it gets chewed up, its like a cotter key, one time use is expected, sort of like reusing a nail, but if it will break the bank file the burr off, never-seez the thing when you put it together,
