Tim, the spade connectors are usually held in the plug by a little tab. The tab is angled so it slides in the plug, but catches to keep the connector from pulling back out. You can usually slide a small slim screwdriver in the connector to bend that tab down.

I have a small screwdriver that is ground on the end just for this purpose. I have removed many of them, One of my jobs was in jig assembly for producing wiring harnesses. Steve has given you the correct procedure, just slide it in the opposite end the wire goes in. If or when you reassemble it, remember to lift that tab back up in position or it won't hold very well.

Bert,

Do you call that a poor man's tool or a tool of convenience, that is you had it so you used it?

That might be a good thread, tools you/we use that are not being used for its intended purpose. I use a hardened concrete nail for a center punch.
