What to you get when you mix together a John Deere guy, a retired machinist, a Model 70, and a desire to be different. You get this!

This little beauty is the work of my friend Dick Handwerk. He did most all the machine work himself in his basement shop. He called me last night to tell me it was getting closer to completion. So, today I stopped by with my camera.

As you can see he has put a little bit of time into this project, but this is only one of several. Some of his other projects were featured in the March 2009 issue of Green Magazine. If you like articulated John Deeres', check out his 12 wheeler Model 70, that is still under construction, in the article.
The crawler is almost finished. He still as to get all the "little things" finished, then off to the shows and off to go play.

Ron,
I believe that was the first thing that came to my mind this morning when I got there. It was also the first thing out of my mouth several months ago when I saw it under construction for the first time.

Ron,
He is not a member as of 6:30 tonight, but, I called him after I posted the pictures and directed him to this section of the forum. After seeing his crawler on the forum and what all the other guy here are doing, I think he might be signing up soon, if he hasn't already.
I'd put up some pictures of his 12 wheel articulated model 70, but I don't want to spoil all of his fun when he signs up.
Well okay, maybe one teaser!

Hi Dick!
Welcome on board. I told you they would love it. Are you ready to show everyone the articulated?

Let me know if you need help posting pictures. It was a bit tricky but I figured it out.
Talk to ya soon,
Craig

Hi Ron,
Dick and I are going to "werk" on a photo gallery of his projects. I'm leaving for the weekend so we will try to get it together next week. Until then here are a few new "teaser" photos.

I appreciate all of your support and comments. I have been at this type of work for some time on and off for several years but now I am seriously working on the projects since I retired. Evan, I doubt I can make yours look like mine because of the many many hours in this project. Over 365 parts plus jigs for fabrication and assembly were made for this crawler project. Now to move on to the other projects I have under way (see may registration profile). As to pictures of the build, I do not not have any. I focused on the fabrication work, but now wish I had taken pictures along the way. You all have a good day. Dick
