It looks so bad I was afraid of posting a pic
What “looks so bad”? The tractor or the tires on it? I see nothing bad either way!

Certainly the fat bar tires do not mimic the "stock" look of the original tractor as shipped from Deere. but aesthetics is always in the eye of the beholder...

If you like the look of the lugs, then that is your choice/preference. You may notice the front tires are not that close to original either...

Here is a pretty stock looking picture of a 110 with head and tail lights that was found on-line...

Been super busy with all the storms and work but finally got around to getting the helper spring on,got a new gasket for the steering box,and found some used wheels that I bought and had some 23/10.50/12 deestone lugs put on..I still have the original rear tires mounted on the original rims and wheel keep them like that.

They helper spring imo helped a hood bit to lift the blade up and down

I also found two tractors and picked them up Thursday..both serial numbers are coming back to both being hydro models which is what I wanted from the get go..But those tractors are another thread to come later..also bought a 50 model cart it’s at my buddy’s house for now since he went and picked it up for me.

Here are some pics

Looks good!
If you want more help to lift the blade or whatever is hanging on the tractor, just crank that bolt into it more. Most attachments have a setting for the helper spring. Like the 36 snow thrower says to crank the bolt all the way in. Another (I don’t remember which off hand) says to adjust the bolt to where there is 1/16” between the coils.

Was finally able to go get the model 50 cart, for $175 I believe I did very well..no holes or dents…this cart will stay as is with the tractor,no painting.

Ordered a stack and muffler from hapco..Wanted to see what it looked like in person..It may end up on the restored hydro 66 when that happens…was a little shocked how much better the tractor sounded with a new muffler,it sounded happy and smoother

Also picked up some 50lbs wheel weights for $100 another deal I couldn’t pass up.

So a few things have happened

I could not get the original carb to stop leaking,so I ordered a new one from isavetractors..seems pretty dang good but I swear it’s leaking some as well..yes I replaced all the gaskets involved in that and threw on some stainless steel bolts

The pressure cap ?? Had a small pin hole in it and seemed to be leaking from the sides..I cleaned it up really well with a wire brush and some aceton/brake cleaner, then laid some jb weld on it..fixed that problem…the burn mark is from getting to close with the heat gun while getting it cured up

Next I got tired of looking at some of the crudy wiring so I fixed up the points wire and condenser itself and the wire…next will be the hot wire from the coil back..prob when it gets a little warmer out on that project

Lastly I installed the correct bolt for the tractor..before it was rigged up

Here are some pics

So my variable speed stopped working..I adjust and adjust again and never got any better.

So I found a guy who rebuilds them and have been in contact with him…after talking with him at length he’s going to rebuild mine and get me back up and running.

So that’s been a project for the past few days was getting that out,the further I got into removing it I thought now would be a good time to just remove the engine give it a good scrub down and fix up that rats nest/horrid wiring that some how was still working.

So I been freshen some wiring up and giving every piece a good scrub while I’m this deep into everything…a while back I got lost on YouTube about keeping the pinta on metal and found a product called penetrol,it is carried at lowes/home depot..it’s basically a heavy lends seed oil…even smells like it..

So I’ve been cleaning scrubbing and applying some of this penetrol and thus far it seems to work but for how long it will last who knows..I figure I’ll try this first and restore to soaking everything in diesel fuel every few months as needed if the penetrol don’t last.

I haven’t taken many pics but that’s the update I have for now

Wiring/electrical always intimated me.......green is ground like the grass, unless brown like dirt, red is hot like the sun, but then there's yellow and orange........all something like that right? I replaced the old wiring on my B for the lights and ignition after buying new gauges, having to move them and the old wires being 2 inches short. Granted it was only 4 wires and was a process to replace a wire from the starter. In the end it looked great and for my son or the next owner they won't open it up and think " wth"

Let us know how the variator turns out. Also who did it, and how much they charged to do it.

Variatior should be here Tuesday !!! Pretty excited to feel how it work..Nothing much going on other then the pto switch…

Apparently it’s a guessing game and every tractor is different..fastenal didn’t have nothing,I checked the bolt my self more then once and never could find the thread to match with the bolt size..bought some from hapco thinking they got the right ones…Nope…I even tried the screws they sent me on my 66 restore project and they didn’t fit on it either..so tonight I decided to just drill and tap the holes for 1/4-20s

The varatior should up a little earlier then it was suppose to..so I made quick work at getting everything back together and adjust..I actually now have adjustment one 6 of the 7 notches of the quadrant,I’ve never had that before

Everything is working like it should now,all wiring that was chopped up or just over all ruff has now been taking care of.

Changed the oil

Very happy with the guy I sent it to,he seems like good people and very professional about have things in spec like they should be..It cost me a good bit money more simply for the fact a lot of my stuff he couldn’t work with, just two far gone…He will be getting more work for me on some things tho.

The only thing I can complain about is the paint seemed like it wanted to chip very easy on everything but this is a working tractor so it don’t matter to me..just reminds me when I restore stuff I will pay for powder coating.

Got the carts out today took a few pics while the weather was nice

That’s awesome! The manual does mention that you should typically have motion in 1-5 and then the other 2 will as the belt wears some.

The million dollar question is how much did the variator rebuild cost?

Mine cost $349 normal it is about 180-190 but he couldn’t get some of the bearings/bushing pushed out on mine,so he used a used arm etc..Its crazy a little
slop would cause stuff not to work like it should.

It’s tight now,no side play and it slides like butter!!!

I understand not everyone has $350 laying around for this,he told me up front cost and ran into more..sent me pics and updates every step of the way…if a washer wasn’t in what I sent him he sent me new oem parts pin Carter keys bolts

The next one will go to him
