The variator on my snow pushing 1982 212 was giving me fits, or so I thought.
I got it fixed today. Tractor starts a lot faster with its new Chinese carburetor, and
it goes and stops like it should. The variator even operates properly.
I replaced the primary and secondary drive belts with new John Deere belts. When
I compared the new belts with the old belts, I noticed the old belts were almost 1/8
thinner. I had thought the belts were a couple of winters old, but obviously I let some time
get away from me on that.
Then when I went to adjust the variator, I found the bolt that you adjust the variator with
was not tight. I can't blame anyone else. It had to be me.
