This is an easy one! The JD Part No. for a 316 grill is M81679. The JD Part No. for a 317 grill is M81679. That's your answer, same part number, same grill.

Of course it depends if the 316 the grille is from the earlier Kohler version or the later Onan version -- two completely different animals as the older tractor is closed frame and the newer one is open frame.

The 316 Onan version grille will not fit the 317, its part number is AM108773 (SUB FOR AM39168 AND AM101287)
