I see in a lot of pictures you guys hang parts to paint, I tried that yesterday with my small side screens and it did not go well
The pressure from the gun had them swinging all over the place and I ended up trying to hold them and it got all messed up. What do you guys do to hang the panels to paint, do you set them down, do you hang them?

I also got a small run and some orange peel, I am assuming if I was able to keep a stable distance from the part this would not of been so much of an issue?

I use another wire hook to hold the part while spraying it, that way you can change the angle as needed and no "sway". ~~ Lowell

Michael,
Because of the risk of paint running, I paint parts with them laying horizontal. This many times means I have to turn them over and paint the back separately. However, it holds them stable and after a few minutes I hang them to dry using a wire through a bolt hole or ? Most of the time I use a spray can. Clean the part before painting to get all oils off, spray a light coat then after a few minutes coat it again with another light coat. Hang it, after it dries do the other side. Depending of the finish you want apply several coats. This makes the paint process longer but it does a nice job and the time can usually be covered with other jobs as the paint is drying.

Michael,

Not sure what all the other guy here do but I NEVER hang things to paint.
I use a small wooden table or a couple of saw horses to lay the parts down. Yes it does take longer this way but it works better.

I may lay several flat parts out and do one side one day then turn them over after they dry and do the other side the next day.
