Hello everyone,
I have 2 John Deere machines: a 216 from 1980, 47" deck & snow blower. It is essentially original except for an engine rebuild after the governor broke apart and made quite a mess inside the block - broken oil dipper, piston skirt...you get the idea. But it won't die! It still works great as a snow machine, wagon hauler and a Sweepster broom on the front. It isn't used as a lawnmower anymore, as I have a bigger rig.

I had a second 216 for a few years but traded it in for a John Deere F930 with 72" deck from 1989. It only cuts grass, but it cuts our cut time down substantially. Unfortunately, the 1970's vintage Onan twin cylinder 24hp burned out after 19 years. It was cheaper to drop in a new Honda V-twin 24hp engine than trying to rebuild with scarce parts (Onan went bankrupt twice!). Now it is more powerful than new and cuts my fuel consumption by 45%.

:welcome:

Those old 200 series are very unheralded, but tough as nails. Good machines.
