I have a soft side JD cab on my 420 and looking for options for putting in a electric wiper set up. Its $150 for a JD motor for a newer tractor plus what ever kind of switch. What could I use?
Hard to say since it doesn't wipe as far as most auto wipers do. Maybe look at something like a road grader/blade wiper motor or something similar sized window glass/travel of wiper.
The manual wiper would be good in 90% of the snow falls though. Only time I need it on is when the wind blows straight back at me and my cab heater (coolant feed-so it can melt some good snow) causes it to melt and it needs to be wiped off with the switch on. But otherwise it would be fine most of the time with just a manual style.
Keep an eye on Surplus Center. I bought one from them last year cheap that is adjustable. The link below should work but if not the model is MARINCO-38001-02R. They are out of stock right now but maybe you can find them elsewhere. This fit into a 400 Cozy Cab perfectly.
Jeff the one I used in my 214s cab was one used used on street rod. Self contained including the switch. Put it through the hole, tighten the nut on the shaft and run wires. Even the arm and the blade size were usable. I will see if I can find some pictures and post them. Roger
I used a motor off a 4400 combine. Cut down arms to fit the window, then put back together. Works really good. Plus you get most of the glass with the dual arm wiper.
