I have an LX176 that won't start. Was out mowing and it just quit. The engine is not getting fuel. I checked and the pump will pump gas right to the carb but it seems like the carb is blocked. Verified by dumping a small amount of gas down the carb directly through the air filter housing. Engine fires then. The float bowl doesn't appear to come off either. Any one messed with one of these before? The solenoid on the bottom of the carb(what it does I'm not sure) seems to operate with the key ok.

After closer inspection, I see that it does. Mine has a layer of something over it that makes the bowl look like part of the carb. I am thinking of just getting a carb kit and cleaning it up to see if that fixes it. What is the solenoid for on the bowl?
