Hello,
I was working on this 322 and the boss asked me how much would a new 322 would have been in 1988 ?
I would have guess it would have been $6000.00 or more.
That's just the 322 and 46" deck .
In today's world one need to buy a X-7xx to match what the 322 is .And I wonder if the new machines will be running 26 years from now
Thanks JW

Somebody posted a while back their 1988 original sales receipt was $5,849 with a 50" deck in November of 1987.

I'm sure my 1988 322 and my 2008 X729 will be doing fine 26 years from now if I'm still around. Both are built extremely well. I wonder how a box store tractor would last.

Your last sentence made me laugh, last summer my neighbor was mowing with his craftsman rider mower and he got to close to his big open window well and rolled it into the well on its side . He got off in time but broke his hip and had to get a new one put in. Myself and 3 other guys lifted it out and pushed it in his shed. I got it out this spring for him cleaned the oil out of carb and put in new engine oil and it fired right up.
His craftsman is 28 years old and runs like a champ,I always tease him he needs a real mower like my Deere's

According to a CPI inflation calculator, $6000 in 1987 would require about $12,500 today. This is just an estimate, because different categories of cost grow at different rates.
