I'm stripping one of my 400's down to bare metal, including the steel hydraulic tubing. I thought I'd go with a metal-like paint instead of black for the lines. I've painted engine bay car parts with various products that simulate a 'natural' finish but I've never been impressed with the durability. Have any of you guys done that with good results?

I sort of sneaked up on this. I started out thinking I'd just strip the sides and other areas of the frame that would be visible with the green stuff installed. I figured I'd just scrub the other areas, then clean and paint them. As I worked I took more and more parts of the frame till finally all that was left was this. I'll do a thread on it when I have more time and pics.

I've used cold galvanizing spray with decent results on some under-body stuff. Could be the look you are after and will provide decent corrosion resistance.

Tom.. I looked that up on the web and it looks like a pretty good product. I didn't know it was available. They claim it's as good as hot dipped. Ideally I'd like to find something with a silver anodized look. It probably sounds picky but I'm putting a lot of work into the project and I want it to look spiffy all over. Even where nobody can see it

also while Im here the gas gauge has never worked since ive had tractor. 10 years or so. I just try to put fuel in regular but I have messed up in past. anyway I did once have it checked and told me the instrument cluster would have to be replaced and if I remember correctly it was super expensive, has anyone else had this problem and is there any other options of finding a used one or any other ideas? thanks. Yes . 8 out of 10 times it's the sending unit chip in the fuel tank module. JD said you have to replace the entire module to fix. Used to be a guy on ebay that would sell just the potentiometer portion for 15 bucks. You have to solder on the terminals but it get ya going for lots less than the whole assembly.
