I am rebuilding the Hydrostat Pump for my 140 and need to know the diameter of the shaft that runs from the driveshaft into the main pump and out to the cooling fan. I bought one of the seals at John Deere M45400 last week and damaged the seal while installing it. Last week JD charged me $15 for it and this week they said $19.50!!! I stopped at a CR Seal Dealer and they said if I get them the shaft diameter they can match it and the seal will be $4.00. JD uses CR Brand seals for the hydrostat, so it will be the same seal. Or better yet does someone have the CR Seal Number that crosses to a JD M45400?
I can't believe I am the only one that has ever rebuilt a hydrostat. No one knows the diameter of the shaft?? I would check mine but it is 90 miles away at the present time.
In case someone else needs these seals, they also cross to a National 471466. These seals can be bought for $2.95. A whole lot better than the $19.50 that my local JD Dealer wanted.
Loenard I rebuilt my hydro installed new gaskets on it between the two halves, and between the hydro and the rear end. Do you have a picture of the seals you are referring to? I wonder if mine should be replaced as I just cleaned the whole thing up and would hate to get it in only to make a mess. Also the chck valves can be real cheap if you get them from SunSource about half the price the local Deere dealership wants. I looked it up and depending how far you are from Cedar Rapids you could get the parts there.
Michael, I don't have a picture here but these seals are the ones that are on the input and output of the driveshaft. The input one is mounted in the main pump on the top, front of the hydrostat and the output one is mounted on the aluminum housing where the shaft for the fan comes out. Do you have a part number for the check valves and a website or phone number for SunSource??
No problem. I just replaced the front and right side seals on my 300. I originally bought them to put in my 314, but it doesn't leak and kept for future use. Should have gotten them at Motion Ind. but sometimes Deere uses oddball stuff so I figured I'd get them there. Next time I'll check with Motion first.
Leonard,
I dont have the part number I have it somewhere written down actually got the number off here from another member. But here is the link for Sunsource. http://www.sun-source.com/service-repair.html
