looking at repower options for a 320 john deere ,i currently have a fd590vasoo which kawasaki does not make anymore , hunting parts for the original motor i run across the one at sew , sew says kawasaki recommends a fd731v-bs07, but they also will not guarantee the fit just wanted to check and see if anyone has already done this swap .any and all help appreciated

I ran into a guy that did this swap. He had so much trouble that I won't attempt it on my 320. Almost nothing fits, and the electronics are completely different. You'll also have to perform some minor surgery on the hood.

Small Engine Warehouse makes a bolt in swap that puts 24 HP Briggs into a 320 for a bit more than $1000. They say if you try the Kawasaki you can't run the hood on it. Roger

Hi Guys

I tried the search and didn't get much. I have a 1971 112 with Hydro and I have it all apart and need to know what hydro fluid to use in case the 19 yr old at my dealer has no idea.


I don't have a manual either to show what was originally used.

I used low-vis hyguard in mine, my dealer recommended it, and I have used it for a 5-6 weeks, and it has greatly reduced the engine load when running the lift

k b thanks, I have plenty of that so good. Now for filling it how much did you start with? Never filled one of these
before and not sure how to go about filling the res and getting the air out of the lines.

I filled mine to the top, cycled it a couple times, and it dropped about 1/2". I didn't add more because I wanted to double check the manual, but I keep forgetting to.

If I remember tonight, I'll let you know what it says

The manual says I over filled it. It should be 1.5-2" below the fill hole.
