I use my 318 for grading drive ways, and dirt lots. I need to add weight to the front end to offset the leveler I have on the 3 point. I want to keep the snow blade on front also. Was wondering if any one had any ideas. If I could find a cheap set of front wheel weights I would start there.

Charlie,

Far and away the best set-up for grading is a center blade, which allows the use of a front and/or rear weight bracket that accepts suitcase weights. You did not specify what "leveler" you have on the 3-pt, but I surmise it is a box scraper blade to both loosen and move the gravel around. For final leveling and shaping the center blade is many times easier to use than a front snow style blade like a model 54. I have both (...made the center blade) and can vouch for the difference.

Charlie,
Nice solution. Did you just weld those "L" brackets to the side of the plow mounting frame? Any more difficulty mounting up the plow with the "ears" installed?

I too wish I had more front weight in the winter when the balance between traction and steering is always an issue.

Steve, check my thread in the "Attachments section"; 46c Center Blade. I made it from a newer style JD front blade I bought on CL.
Not really that difficult, just takes some time!

Several others here too, try a search for "Center Blade" or "Belly Blade". ~~ Lowell
