Is it compatible?

Will this be able to replace the magnet to activate/deactivate the PTO clutch?

An electric PTO clutch/brake assembly as used on garden tractors is a specialized and fully integrated electro-mechanical assembly. Look through this attached generic document from Ogura to learn more...

If you have a PTO with a failed electromagnet coil/winding, you can rewind it yourself to save some money. There is a good thread on this in the FAQ of this site:

Charles,

What tractor and year model are we discussing here? If you are unsure, post a picture and one of the PTO you are trying to repair/replace...

Yes, the magnet coil on a typical PTO assembly is separate from and slightly behind the rotating pulley portion -- here is an exploded view of a PTO from an open frame tractor like the 318, for instance...

Thanks for the tractor model and year information -- that helps quite a bit. I saw the 112 in your avatar listing, but thought it might be an earlier one with the manual PTO. The electric clutch on the later 112 replaced the manual PTO engagement used on the pre 1972 model years. I don't know anything specific about how to repair or replace this assembly. Is the coil on the one you have now open or shorted?

Maybe another member here that owns a later model SF can chime in... There are threads in the gear drive section of this forum like this one:
