Here is a video of the noise my tranny is making. I have tried so many things and finally just stumped. Changed fluids 3 times. Put another tranny and valve box in from another tractor and made the same noise. But when I did switch tranny's. The new one sounded great for a minute or two and then started making the noise again. I did find out that I had my hydraulic lever out of neutral. Put back into neutral and helped a little but still have a noise. I know they have a wine noise but this is much different and gets loader as I speed up in forward or reverse. Only makes the loud noise in forward or reverse. They both worked when taken out. I will post another video later and hopefully get a better sound of it . Please help. http://youtu.be/7nzDY6RThnc

Kalin,
I have listened to it several times and I'm stumped my self. It sound like possibly a bearing? The part that doesn't make sense is why both of them sound the same. My 1970, 140 is fairly quiet. At this point I think I would just run it. Sorry for no words of wisdom.

Added 2 more Quarts of oil and fixed it so far. I've been playing with that for a long time. Don't like the operation manual. Says add 3qt and then add tell its in the middle of safe. Started looking online for exact amount and people say 4 and then add tell its safe on dipstick. I know it took 7qt when I took the rearend apart but I had no oil in the system. So it takes 5qt give or take. Depends on how much is drained out. Hope it continues to run well. Today is the first warm dry day we've had in a while. So will get it out today and drive it around.

Kalin, did you have a hard time putting the fluid in? I have a 1970 140, when I add fluid it wants to belch fluid after adding a cup or so. I managed to get close to four quarts in. Mine is whining, hope I have the same issue as you.

Yeah it sucks adding oil to these tractors. Just takes time. Add another 2 quarts. I believe I was just shy of 6 quarts. Helped but still kind of whining. They do have a whining to them which is normal but mine is a little more then normal. Also drive it and let the fluids run through the system and then check it again.
