Hello folks, I have several JD 160 and 185 tractors with 38" decks. With that, I seem to have a variety of deck blades and I have no idea what the differences are between the types of blades. Some flat, some with differing curves, one with teeth, etc.. Is there anyway/place to check what these are and why I'd use one set over the other? I also have a "multch kit" for a deck (missing the screen) and would like to know which of these blades goes with the kit. Thanks for your help. - Jim

it sounds like to me you have an assortment of regular blades, the curvy ones i think are mulching blades and the ones with the teeth a gator blades.

The 38" Tri-Cycler mulcher uses blades with a scoop curve in the blade, in addition to the wings at the end.

The toothed blades sound like gator blades.
