Terry,, You're Good..You knew exactly what I was looking for..
Thanks!!
I see the chart start with 1996. One of my 425's has a SN of 010479.. I'm guessing that is a very early 93 then.
Question about 200 series tractors with the 38" replacement deck and bagger.

Q: What style of deck chute works best? Any preference? I have seen the rectangular style and the round style. My research on this website has told me that I need to find a bagger attachment for an STX 38. Although there is no differentiation of either the STX Yellow Deck or STX Black Deck. I am assuming either will work.
So I have been searching for STX 38 baggers and seem to find references that an LT133 LT155 LX172 LX173 LX176 LX178 Bagger will work on an STX 38 which should also work on a 200 series with the replacement 38" deck right? If A = B, and B = C, then A = C right?

I already have the 200 series rear hitch mount for my 210. I wonder if the posts that fit into the bagger mount and to bagger are all pretty much the same for the 38" deck tractors?

I am thinking of finding a round upper and lower chute and adapting my Craftsman 3-hard bin bagger to it. I like the hard bins better than bags. I did this with my 2004 Huskee 42" and it worked awesome!

As always your input is appreciated.

I don't think the rear lift and bagger mount can be used at the same time. But the 38" deck shell on the 200 series was also used on the STX, LX, 108-116 and other models like you stated. I am pretty sure the chute off my LX176 will fit it too.
Michael,

Thanks for that. As luck would have it I located a 38" 2-blade deck locally! I have already added the Try-Cycler Mulching Kit to it. I have also bought a Power Flow 38 QT for it and a deck chute. At this point I am contemplating getting a 2 bin bagger, modifying a craftsman 3 bin bagger, or even getting an MC519 cart bagger. I get a ton of leaves in the fall and having a deck with a bagger is a must.

I have been searching here for information on adding a rear bagger to my JD210. Would a Bagger Kit for John Deere LX173 Lawn Tractor work? It has all the hardware and moutning brackets but I have a line on an actual JD200 series bagger mounting bracket if that is needed instead... any help would be appreciated.. thanks
Njerseynewbie,

What deck will you be using? Basically you have three options. The 38" 2 spindle deck (Early Style), the 38" 2 spindle deck (Newer Style), and the 46" 3 spindle deck (Requires Power Flow). Both 38" decks require the high lift blades.

You will need the rear bagger bracket and pin that attach to rear hitch plate AM100009. You will also need
BM16868 rear grass bagger for STX 38 tractor. If you have a rear lift kit you will need to make a spacer plate for the rear bagger bracket. I am going to bag this weekend and can share pics of my set up if it will help. I would personally get the 200 series bagger set up if its complete. Make sure the chute hasn't been cut down or notched.

Hi Hec,

Yes I would be interested in any pictures... I have at 112 with a 38 in deck on it and I think the deck that came with my 210 is also a 38 in but I thought ii has 3 blades but I am not sure at this point.. will need to check. This is the bracket I found and believe this is the one you said I would need right?

njerseynewbie,

That looks like the right bracket to mount to the rear hitch. A model 39" deck with the 3 blades will not work with a bagger. Maybe this will help too.

Well I checked and the deck on my 112 is a 39A with 3 blades. I think my other deck is also 3 blades. So I either look for a whole setup or maybe something like this instead? They are also offering the deck with the unit.

Trac-vac's seem to work nice
The one's I have seen have always been the tow behind style. This one looks interesting and may even answer my rear bagger issue. The problem is I already have a walk behind lawn vac... anyone with an idea of I should expect to pay for one of these types used?
Used retail varies a lot. It depends more on how motivated the seller is then what the right buyer will pay

njerseynewbie,

That vac set up is hooked up to an older style 3 blade deck. Those decks are shallow so I don't know how effective the vac set up would be? That is why the 38" 2 spindle decks make for good bagging. They are deep. I think you will spend between $300-$400 for a good bagger set up. This includes the price of a 38" 2 spindle deck with high lift blades. I have seen STX 38 bagger set ups selling for $90-$125 locally. The trick is to find a 38" 2 spindle deck for the 200 series. If you can, get the newer style 38" 2 spindle deck. The newer style deck has a lip with holes in it so you can bolt front, rear, and side lips to keep grass from blowing out the front, rear, and side of the deck. I have the front and rear lip sections on mine and they do make a difference. In addition the newer style deck has different draft arms than the earlier version. If you ever decide to add a power flow you will need to modify the draft arms on the earlier style deck to resemble the drawing below. JD used to sell them for the older style deck but they are NLA. I do not believe the draft arms on the newer style deck require any modification. The modification is needed so the added drive pulley to drive the power flow fan doesn't hit the draft arm when the deck is raised. Additional clearance is required. If you ever want to add a power flow to an early style 2 spindle deck, you will also need to weld an angle bracket to the deck to mount it. The early style deck doesn't have the angle bracket. See pic of newer style power flow deck bracket.

I hope this helps.

Well i am waiting to hear back to see if it is even still available...
So the STX model is the one to be looking for? I have seen a couple LA models locally but need more input.. I looked at the list you have on here but did not see the stx model listed.. maybe I need new glasses.... :bash:
Found the following for sale locally. Has the following items included:

John Deere part # M121661, AM115727, AM103541, M92021, M135329, AM127880
Just a note, the trac-vacs work on shallow decks, because the blower creates the airflow, so the blades and deck don't have to
Thanks for that I was hoping that was the case... I price out the parts in my last post new they are $580 - $615 individually... maybe finding something used makes more sense
