JD 300 not moving forward correctly

Ok, so I have a JD 300 single 16 Kohler split brakes Hydro.

It has been sitting for 3 years due to a spark problem, that is fixed and she's running great.
So I took off for a test drive and it was sluggish/slipping in forward, but hard as a rock in reverse. The more you try to go faster the more it slips.
Yes I have checked and topped off the hydro fluid with what I put in last time Hy-Guard.

You can feel the pump moving fluid but it's just not moving forward.
I have another pump but the front plow and the rear tiller move up and down just fine so I am assuming it's in the hydrostat unit.

Is there an adjustment for this?

Had something similar happen to my 300 some years ago. Turned out to be one of the check valves on top of the hydro I think. Also are you sure your free wheeling knob is turned all the way up?

The freewheeling knob is turned out all the way. I looked at the valves and though they were both up but maybe one is only 1/2 way open and the reason it moves awesome in reverse but only half way in forward.

So yes, tomorrow is pull the seat-pan back off and check the freewheel valves.
That was my guess. I wonder if it got stuck down while sitting.

After inspection put a liberal dose of penetrating oil on each one.

I'll pull them out, clean the inside and lube that also. Then reinstall them.
I have 4 other tractors with the same valves so if i can't get them to work I'll swap them out.
