So, I have purchased the shoulder bolt that is used to replace the original bolt in the transmission crossmember on my JD 318. Question is, when I remove this crossmember, will the transmission stay where it's at, meaning it won't try to drop or anything such as that? Also, when replacing the original bolt with the new shoulder bolt, everyone on here said to enlarge the hole that it goes in. Do I just drill the hole out to a larger size (If so, how much larger)? Does the bolt need play (movement) vertically or horizontally? Thanks for all your help.

The tranny won't drop unless both axle mounts are broken (which-can happen and often is the case).

was some aftermarket outfit (KIG) making replacement crossmembers? They don't seem to have a web site anymore.
