I recently purchased a 332 after just entering into the JD world 3 years ago with a 318. I notice all the manuals refer to 332 with serial numbers greater than 475001. I have one of the first ones made in 1987 at 420036. Is there any difference in which manual I purchase?

Thanks for the help.

The linkage for the forward/reverse control can be different between the years. There may be some other minor differences as well. Also there is a brake safety switch which the brake needs to be pushed into start on later ones. Other then that I have two 87's and I haven't opened the repair manual. This site provides me with what I need most of the time. Be thankful-the 87 doesn't have the chronic flaking powder coat paint problem. Roughly mid 88 from what I have read they powder coated them and I have seen more then one with flaking powder coat. Except for Jeff K's 318 in WI. That think is beautiful and original.

Any of the technical service manuals. I was wondering when the manual references a serial number series, does that mean I have to have the specific one for the serial number for my tractor.

Dennis, In all of my manuals, when it references a procedure or part by a serial number, it usually has a + or - which means it was a running change either before or after that number. I have not seen any manuals specific to serial numbers.
