Since my hydro pump died on me earlier this year, I'd figure I should have a spare in my shop incase it happens again prior to a big snow storm. I started rebuilding a non-working pump and determined the problem. Like other members on here, with the Sundstrand 15 in-line, my problem is the shaft pin and Gerotor. With my previous rebuild, I was able to flip the gear around, with a new pin, and things worked well. But, in this case, the gear is really damaged:

If you notice in the picture, the slot, where the shaft pin fits, is squared off, while the others are rounded.

So the question is; do you all think it's ok to take the gear to a machine shop and have them square off two of the other slots? I know this gear is still available, but can't see paying the price that suppliers are demanding.
