The JD compatibility chart shows an adaptor to use some 420 implements on a 400.

Does anyone have a picture?

How much trouble is it to make an adapter to use 420/430 attachments or 300 series attachments?

for plow blades, you should be able to make an adapter to fit 300 series attachments. Personally if it were me, I would cut the front off a 100, 200 or 300 series frame, them make brackets to mount that in the front of the 400.

I just sold a 420 blade, to a guy with a 400, and he said he just removed a couple spacers from the bottom mount rod, and he said it works fine.

snowblowers and brooms will be a little more complicated.
