Thanks guys. Still waiting on the coil from the local Amish fellow. He will have the coil fixed and tested this week. You are right KB. Its easy as pie to pull, but I will wait for the coil to come back. Thanks to all.
Thank you guys for all of your help. Here is where im at now. Amish guy says my coil is good. Removed motor and pulled flywheel. There was a small fire because of grass build up. How do I check the stator, trigger and ring out of the motor? I plan on taking these to the Amish fellow on Saturday, but any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Even with the flywheel off if the key is still in the crankshaft and the rotor is engaged with the tail of the key, you should be able to do the procedure in my post #7809 above. If you have to replace the module, be sure to replace the magnet ring at the same time.
Here are some tests you can do to the stator as well:
Turns out the trigger module is bad. Had the Amish guy test it and it came up bunk. Thanks to all for your help. Ill let you know when its back together.
Good news. 420 is up and running! Sounds good and drives good. I would like to tighten up the steering at some point but that can wait. Is there a way to isolate the three point from the deck? The deck isn't on at the moment and wont be till spring. Ill check the manual but any help is always appreciated. Thanks for all of your help!!!
If the decks not on you don't have a problem. The rear cylinder lifts both simultaneously. If you want the 3 point locked in the up position, use the mower depth stop.
There is something called a transport latch kit. I know it works on the 50" decks, but I'm not sure on the 60" decks. Basically, when the deck is up, you hook it to the frame, and it stays up even if you lower the 3 point.
