Picked up a 420 with a cracked hood, and would like to know if a JD400 hood is interchangeable with a 420 hood?

The 400 hood fits, but the light panel area is different. The 400 light panel fits just in the front, while the 420 light panel curls around the sides. Because of this the decals are different length too.

Yuh I can verify that. Had a 400 hood on my 420 just to see. I didn't think about the decals. That's a really good point. I won't be able to use the 400 hood if I do a makeover on the 420 unless I have decals made up that are the right length.

This 420 had a leaking steering valve, plans change. By the time I got the valve out there wasn't much left of the tractor so I stripped it down to the frame, hydro and hard lines. It will be primed and painted gloss black today. I like the way the gloss looks.
Now the proper hood becomes important to me. Still might pick up the $50 400 hood in awsome condition, to use till I find or repair the 420 hood.
