Looking for decals that are no longer available from J.D. I was able to order some from JD but not all of them. Is there an aftermarket decal seller out there somewhere? I am completely restoring the 100 and want to put on all new decals. Thanks in advance. Dennis

Can anyone out there provide information in regards to getting a decal kit for my 100 that I am restoring. I tried HAPCO and they do not list a kit for the 100 John Deere. The local Deere dealer got some for me but there are several decals that are not available anymore. Thanks in advance. Dennis

Dennis: I would certainly like to know how you are doing with the 100. I have a running (sometimes) 100 and am in the stage of restoring mechanics first then cosmetics. Are you running the Briggs 190707 stock engine? It has been suggested that I need a new carb. They are quite expensive but available. I'm hoping I can get the original in operating condition. Hello John, I do have the 190707 8HP Briggs and am having it overhauled next week. I have the mower completely disassembled and is getting close to getting media blasted. I have the body man on standby for a new coat of base coat/clear coat hopefully in the next two weeks. I was very fortunate to get several manuals with the purchase which includes the Operators, Service Manual,Engine, Parts catalog and the Rotary mower parts catalog and have taken really good digital photos of the complete disassembly of the unit. I have been able to locate all but three of the decals from the John Deere dealer and will have to have the rest made by someone. I am still in need of the two side decals on the hood that have the John Deere 100 on them and the Caution decal in front of the shifter. If anyone is needing any of the technical information, I will be more than happy to print of what you need and send it to you. Dennis

Dennis: Looks like you are not taking any short cuts. I hope you'll share the pics you have taken. My 190707 was had one "floppy" valve re seated (preened??). Smokes very little. My carb and throttle need some tweeking. I may need a brand new carb which will cost some $$
I have a love/hate relationship with my 100.
I want her to be a worker. Since I got her free in 2007 (not running) she has been down more than up. My lawn is just the right size not too big not to small for the 100. I have had two deck springs go on me this season. I found stock replacements but you would think they were gold plated for what was charged. I would have given up long ago without the shop manual. Is you source charging you a lot for the Briggs rebuild? Best Regards, John Lewis, NW Indiana

The person that is going to rebuild the Briggs is a good friend and co-worker and a heck of a small engine guy so I buy the OH kit and he will do the labor for free. The person that will media blast is also a co worker so you guessed it, FREE. Our local JD dealer is finding several new original parts and is selling for normal price. I paid $300 for it, installed a battery, checked oil, added gas and went out and mowed. It really is a nice running/mowing 100. I am rebuilding the engine only because it smokes some at start up. I will have to figure out how to load pictures on here.

Sounds good. Did you just go ahead and order a standard size(piston) rebuild or the oversized? Is your flojet carb working o.k? I'm wondering if an old carb reaches a point where it is no longer rebuildable.
Good Luck on your project.

We have not gotten into the B & S yet but we are thinking that we might go .010 over if we can get by. I am hoping that we can stay with standard size becasue I do not think this mower has had a very hard life just by the looks of it. I just finished up removing every single nut, bolt and part off of her and is now at the blasters. There seems to be no problem with the carb at all and she started right up and runs like a dream once it is warmed up. I just hate the smoke screen it puts up during the warm up period.

I did have a person make me the hood decals but am still looking for the decal on the pedestal in front of the shifter that has the Caution Starting Operating Stopping instructions on it. I would be very interested in one of those and any others that i could find just for precautionary measures.
