Ok I am an old 140 fan to the core but I do have one question to ask. On a 1970 140 (pre 30,000 serial no.) I am trying to get the clutch pedal to disengage the engine from the hydro. When I push in the clutch the pedal feels right but the drive shaft does not stop. Do I need to take the clutch all apart and clean up or what? It does kick out the hydro control lever like it's supposed to but I need it to stop the drive shaft. Any wisdom on this subject is greatly appreciated. Fred

Given the case that you still have a "real" clutch there would be something wrong if it does not disengage the drive shaft..
If you push the "Clutch " pedal on newer 140's it simply moves the hydro control lever in "neutral" position..
But I don't know when it has been changed...

Many post-30,000 machines also have the engine-disconnect clutch. This feature was dropped from H1 models at the beginning of 1972, and from H3 models at the beginning of '73. My '72 140 H3 (#45xxx) has the engine disconnect clutch. It is very handy.

As mentioned, have a friend push the pedal while you get down and look under the tractor. Observe what is happening and compare to the service manual, which has a very detailed description/diagram of how the clutch mechanism operates.
