I'm having issues with a 68 140 H3 I bought. It starts up really well and idles nice. Once I throttle up, it dies out and then when I put the throttle back down fast, it will continue to run and smooth out again at idle. I have put a new key switch in, new points gapped to .020, new spark plug, new batterie, new condenser, rebuild carb kit. I have swapped out with two different carbs I have laying around and does the same. Also have swapped out coils and the second one seems to let it crank better and points spark a lot better but still dies out when I throttle up. I will pull the carb again and try cleaning it up again in carb cleaner for over night but any other good info to try would be great too. Had another one do this and points fixed that one.

Perhaps some blockage or flow restriction in the gas line or the shut-off valve at the fuel tank?
