Your tension is probably set stiff. Turn the knob in between where your feet go to make it easier. If not that look under neeth the handle and try moving things around.
Hi all I have a 79 214 with a Kohler K321. The breather baffle I have looks different then the one in the service manual and the Kohler service manual. I have found a couple pics on the internet and will try to attach them. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for the responses guys. The one I have is exactly like the first one pictured. The service manual shows a baffle that looks like the one in the second picture. It appears that the "wings" on the baffle are raised a lot more on the second one and in the drawing in the manual. Mine like the first one looks like the "wings" are barely raised up.
I am wondering if I have the correct baffle. I have the 2 piece filter as well. I am having problems with a fresh rebuild and want to rule out the breather as a problem.
My engines all have that shorter baffle for what it is worth.
When I buy them from e-bay for a 301 engine, I get the shorter one. The Parts book lists them as all the same unless your talking about the smaller engines. They are totally different.
I know this is an old thread but I have the exact same issue on a new rebuild with a bunch of oil leaking. Im still clear what the explanation for the baffle type difference is. The parts seem to be kohler 270146-S for the flatter and 235117-S for the one with the large indented center. All manuals show the latter. The flatter one seems much less able to allow the reed to move and do its job. Why the design change and which engine is each originally design for?
