I have always liked 140's. They're the 318 and/or the 420 of their era. Very good design work at JD. Be great to see yours and find out some of it's history. Here's mine. It's in another thread here so I won't re-tell the story. There's also another thread about when I first got it and what I did to it. Can't find it at the moment.

I also had another one previously. Sold it to a WFM'er about a dozen years ago. An '71 H1 with no pedals on the right. Mint headlight/grille combo and very good seat. Dammit.

This was my first garden tractor. I've only owned it 35 years. The Johnson 12 came later.

I don't own a 140, but one part of the design I like is no side panels. Better cooling, I think, and easier access to some of the parts. I ditched the side panels on my 300 about 5 years ago and have never looked back.

Oh I'll play this game,

I have 3 1/2 140's

all threads in my sig below but I'll post a few of my here as well.

My 69 140 H1 with OEM 3 point on it its my mini tractor

My 74 140 the first 140 that I got, well got this one and the 69 at the same auction with 1 hour of each other.

its my summer mower and tiller tractor.

my other 69 140, its the work in progress 140 at the moment. Want to get it set up for summer mowing duty and not have to have the 74 as both mowing and tilling tractor.

Then the 1/2 140 its just a rolling frame but I have a engine to go in it now and need to find a rear end then start putting it together. might be a year or 2 hence it being 1/2 a 140

How much weight can you lift with that loader with forks on it?

I haven't exactly tested, but 300 - 400 lbs. I have lifted and moved a complete 30 hydraulic tiller with extension, on a pallet. That is probably the heaviest thing I need it to do.

My 1969 H3 with a few personal touches,, I bought this from a local farmer who had it in a barn, not running for many years..a little elbow grease and a few parts, it’s a great machine again!.. I have a few implements for it and it’s a great addition to the herd!

That is only the second 140 I have seen without headlights. I would think that the H3 would have them standard.
I really like the mixture of 140's so far. It isn't a contest. Post what you have. It doesn't matter if it's a trailer queen or a pile of parts. 120's would also be nice to see here and so would the Patio versions. Old Iron has a few of them.

That is a beauty John(y). I always liked 110 RF's and by chance that's what I started off with. I was 9 when the first ones started showing up at fall fairs in the early/mid 60's in dealer displays. I wanted one really bad but it was not to be. I found a 140 in Wheatfield NY (Buffalo area) not long after. I also tried getting my uncle to let me have grandpa's 140 instead of it sitting in a corner of a shed under some stuff with a busted engine. He wouldn't let it go so it sat there neglected for 50 years. Had to wait till he passed away.

Picked mine up about 7 years ago along with a RF had local guy and member here had for sale. Always wanted one since I had joined WFM.

Wow! That was some transformation. I can appreciate how much effort went into that.

The headlight panel was there but broken, I wish I could find a reasonably priced replacement,,,,great thread, I love to look at different 140's and other tractors from this era!
