Paul, on a model 60 the axle seal is a outboard seal behind the hub that runs in grease unlike the 100 and 200 series garden tractors and is a pretty simple change. I used a small pick tool to remove it and put it back together with a small piece of pipe as a seal set that would fit over the axle.remove the snap ring on the outer side of the rear wheel and slide it off, If it is not frozen onto the axle.
Good luck, Joe
I have the same problem with the rear axle seal leaking but I have the seal out and called my local John Deere dealer and they could not help me on the seal. Does anyone know what seal fits it?
Thanks, Walter
